Finally, some good news for T-Mobile subscribers. The proposed merger with MetroPCS is the opposite of 2011's disastrous AT&T deal. Rather than killing one of America's value players, this deal seems designed to strengthen T-Mobile at doing what T-Mobile does best - undercutting the other major carriers on price while still offering high-quality wireless service.
If you're a T-Mobile customer, you won't see many changes except that the carrier's network will get better with time. You may get access to some new prepaid options, though. Here's how things will go.

Until mid-2013: Business as usual. These kinds of mergers take a while to go through, and until then, it's business as usual at T-Mobile. The company will aggressively convert its 1900Mhz spectrum to 3G, allowing for a wider range of new phones and inviting people to bring over unlocked iPhones for use at HSPA+ 42 speeds. And it'll introduce 4G LTE next year.
2013: More service options. T-Mobile promises to keep "unlimited" alive and offer more prepaid and no-contract options. That's the point of maintaining the MetroPCS brand. The joined company may divide into a structure similar to Sprint and Virgin, with T-Mobile becoming the contract and business-focused brand, and no-contract subscribers falling under MetroPCS. That could mean you'll be able to switch between a wider range of plan options with the same phone.
2013: Probably better phones. By mid-2013 T-Mobile will start selling the same phones to T-Mobile and MetroPCS customers. Carriers love exclusive handsets, and the way they get the best ones is by guaranteeing sales. Bigger carriers have more clout. So a slightly bigger T-Mobile will be able to carry a little more weight in discussions with phone makers, nabbing better devices.Â
2014: LTE gets real. T-Mobile will use its own and MetroPCS's spectrum to build a "10x10" or even "15x15" LTE network with similar speed and capacity to Verizon's. The company said it will introduce this in 2013, and building on MetroPCS's existing LTE markets will help, but it'll take until the end of 2013 for T-Mobile's LTE to cover 2/3 of the country's population.Â
2015: Super-speed 4G. When T-Mobile turns off MetroPCS's CDMA at the end of 2015, it'll have enough spectrum to set up "20x20" LTE in many cities. That's double the speed and capacity that Verizon is operating right now.

Do you have something to say that you really want your Facebook friends to know about? Maybe you just got engaged, are moving to another country, having a baby, or are simply planning a garage sale.
Now you can post your big news on Facebook, and pay to ensure that people will see it. The social network on Wednesday announced that it is expanding its "promoted posts" feature to the U.S., which lets users pay to highlight their own posts on their friends' news feeds.
Facebook first announced the feature back in May, at which point it started a test of the service in New Zealand. The social network has since gradually rolled out Promoted Post to more than 20 countries, said Facebook software engineer Abhishek Doshi.
The new feature works like this: you pay Facebook $ 7 for post you want to highlight, and your message will stay near the top of your friends' and subscribers' news feeds for a longer period of time so they're more likely to see it.
"Every day, news feed delivers your posts to your friends," Doshi wrote. "Sometimes a particular friend might not notice your post, especially if a lot of their friends have been posting recently and your story isn't near the top of their feed."
Once you promote a post, it will be marked "Sponsored" and Facebook will provide you statistics like how many more views your post received because you promoted it. For example, Facebook may tell you that your post "had 3.8x as many views because you promoted it."
Promoted Posts is now available to users in the U.S. with fewer than 5,000 friends and subscribers.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission today announced a crackdown on tech support websites that tricked users into paying for the removal on non-existent computer viruses.
Specifically, a U.S. district judge granted an FTC request to freeze the assets of six support scams, pending further hearings. FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said the cases involve 14 companies and 17 individuals.
"The tech support scam artists we are talking about today have taken scareware to a whole other level of virtual mayhem," Leibowitz said in a statement.
Most of the scammers were based in India but targeted users in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., and Ireland.
The scam was simple: Five of the six scammers used telemarketing calls while the sixth used Google ads to draw in unsuspecting customers - often by telling them they worked for legitimate firms like Dell, Microsoft, or McAfee. The scammers would then convince a user they had a virus installed on their machine, ask to take over their machines to "remove" the malicious software, and then charge consumers between $ 49 and $ 450 for a task they had not actually completed. In all, they used 80 different domain names and 130 different phone numbers.
The FTC said it plans to ask the court for restitution for those affected by the scam.
Suspects were charged with violating the Federal Trade Commission Act, which bars unfair and deceptive commercial practices. They were also hit with charges for illegally calling numbers on the Do Not Call Registry.
Last month, the FTC cracked down on PC rental firms that were spying on users by capturing screenshots, logging keystrokes, and taking webcam photos of unknowing renters.

Has to do with someone who is too heavy handed in their approach. When they work in a garden they don't do so with care and trample the plants. When they work on your car they install a new radio but then the blinkers and head lights don't work. Just someone who makes a mess of it because they are not careful around delicate equipment. Imagine a bull trying to tiptoe through a china shop, when they get through all the dishes will be broken. If you ever saw the "meet the fockers" movies the male nurse was like that, he spilled the mothers urn, lost the cat, plugged the toilet, flooded the yard with sewage, set the gazebo on fire, smashed the girls nose playing vollyball, "that boy is a bull in a china shop…."

Lloyd has it, it's about charging in and being clumsy and indelicate in a situation that needs care and delicacy. It's usually used as a simile, "...*like* a bull in a china shop." It can refer to physical and especially to emotional situations.
